Pregnancy Testing and Counseling eLearning

This eLearning module can help individuals provide Title X-compliant pregnancy testing and counseling, a core family planning service, as described in Providing Quality Family Planning Services: Recommendations of CDC and the U.S. Office of Population Affairs (QFP). 

This course was updated January 2022 to comply with the 2021 Title X Regulations which state that all clients must be offered the opportunity to be provided information and counseling regarding each of the following options: prenatal care and delivery; infant care, foster care, or adoption; and pregnancy termination. If requested to provide such information and counseling, staff must provide neutral, factual information and nondirective counseling on each of the options, and, referral upon request, except with respect to any option(s) about which the pregnant client indicates they do not wish to receive such information and counseling.

Learning Objectives:

• Describe the pregnancy testing and counseling services that the Providing Quality Family Planning Services: Recommendations of CDC and the U.S. Office of Population Affairs (QFP) recommends as part of core family planning services
• Identify key elements of a quality pregnancy testing and counseling encounter
• Describe the Title X requirements for referrals related to pregnancy testing and counseling

The course includes three sections:

• Section 1: Pregnancy testing and counseling
• Section 2: Negative pregnancy tests
• Section 3: Positive pregnancy tests

Time: 2.0 hours

Continuing Education: 2.0 contact hours

There is no fee for a continuing nursing education (CNE) certificate upon successful completion of this activity.
