This eLearning module gives providers comprehensive information about client-centered counseling techniques outlined in Providing Quality Family Planning Services: Recommendations of CDC and the U.S. Office of Population Affairs (QFP). Using the information in this module, providers can help clients identify the contraceptive method that best fits their needs and preferences.

Note: As of June 2024, the Contraceptive Counseling and Education eLearning was replaced by two modules: this module and the Contraceptive Methods and Guidelines for Their Use eLearning. 

Learning Objectives:

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Elicit client preferences about contraceptive methods
  • Use client-centered counseling techniques to help clients identify a method that best fits their needs and preferences

The course includes two sections:

  • Section 1: Client-centered contraceptive counseling skills
  • Section 2: Putting it all together 

Time: 1.0 hour

Continuing Education: 1.0 contact hour

There is no fee for a continuing nursing education (CNE) certificate upon successful completion of this activity. This nursing continuing professional development activity has been approved for a maximum of one contact hour by JSI Research & Training Institute, Inc. Activity # RHNTC42.
