This eLearning course can help Title X family planning staff to identify signs of human trafficking and respond appropriately to potential cases. This course provides practical strategies, as well as survivor stories, activities, case studies with reflection prompts, and a video.

Note: This eLearning is designed to build on the SOAR to Health and Wellness Human Trafficking Training. Please complete the SOAR eLearning before starting this course.

As of January 2021, this course replaced the Human Trafficking in The Family Planning Setting Webinar.

Learning Objectives:

  • Describe what constitutes human trafficking in the United States
  • Recognize possible signs and indicators of human trafficking within Title X settings
  • Identify and interact with a potential victim or survivor of trafficking
  • Assess the needs of individuals who have been trafficked and deliver appropriate family planning services
  • Take action to connect with community first responders and service providers who work with individuals who have been trafficked.

The course includes four sections:

  • Section 1: Introduction to human trafficking
  • Section 2: Encountering human trafficking in a Title X setting
  • Section 3: Best practices for identifying and assisting victims of human trafficking
  • Section 4: Legal issues related to human trafficking

Time: 1.0 hour

Continuing Education: 1.0 contact hour

There is no fee for a continuing nursing education (CNE) certificate upon successful completion of this activity.

This nursing continuing professional development activity has been approved for a maximum of 1 contact hour by JSI Research & Training Institute, Inc. Activity # RHNTC22.
