Resources for National Women's Blood Pressure Awareness Week 2024

October 13-19 is National Women’s Blood Pressure Awareness Week, hosted by the Office on Women’s Health to improve women’s health outcomes related to hypertension, or high blood pressure. This year’s theme, “Empower Every Era,” emphasizes the importance of monitoring and controlling blood pressure across every stage of life and addressing the unique health challenges that many women face.

Hypertension is one of the leading — and most preventable — contributors to maternal death and to disparities in maternal morbidity and mortality. Sexual and reproductive health care providers can play a role in helping to prevent hypertension by implementing best practices for hypertension prevention, diagnosis, and control in reproductive health care settings.

The resources below from the RHNTC and the Clinical Training Center for Sexual and Reproductive Health (CTC-SRH) can support providers to learn more about hypertension prevention and control, and implement blood pressure screening into family planning and preconception health services.

You can also save the Heart Health Resources for Sexual and Reproductive Health Staff Training List to your Training Account and complete it at your own pace.
