This updated course provides an overview of the purpose of coding and how codes are used to document services provided during a medical visit. It includes new guidance for evaluation and management (E/M) codes that went into effect on January 1, 2021, and coding for telemedicine visits has been added. This course is intended for clinicians and billing staff with no prior medical coding experience.

Learning Objectives:

  • Describe the importance of accurate coding by providers in a reproductive health setting
  • Explain the application of appropriate billing codes used in a reproductive health setting
  • Describe the changes to evaluation and management (E/M) codes in effect as of January 1, 2021
  • Describe common codes used for family planning services delivered via telehealth
