This eLearning course examines the process for selecting preventive medicine and problem-focused Evaluation and Management (E/M) codes. The unit provides a framework for capturing all the elements of a visit with the appropriate codes. The unit does NOT cover the types of codes in detail; rather, it shows how a list of questions can guide the process for determining codes.

Learning Objectives:

  • Demonstrate how to code preventive medicine and problem-focused evaluation and management visits to ensure appropriate reimbursement for services 
  • Identify a coding framework to guide the selection of codes
