Certain hormonal contraceptives, including combined hormonal contraceptives, can increase the risk of heart attack and stroke in women with hypertension. Family planning providers should support clients seeking to prevent pregnancy in selecting a method that fits their needs and preferences. This video demonstrates a brief interaction in which a provider integrates hypertension into contraceptive counseling with a client.
