This eLearning module gives providers comprehensive information about the contraceptive methods and client-centered counseling techniques outlined in Providing Quality Family Planning Services: Recommendations of CDC and the U.S. Office of Population Affairs (QFP). Using the information in this module, providers can help clients identify the contraceptive method that best fits their needs and preferences.

Note: As of September 2020, this module replaced the Quality Contraceptive Counseling and Education: A Client-Centered Conversation eLearning and Explaining Contraception for Healthcare Providers eLearning.

Learning Objectives:

  • Accurately describe the full range of contraceptive methods
  • Elicit client preferences about contraceptive methods
  • Use client-centered counseling techniques to help clients identify a method that best fits their needs and preferences

The course includes three sections:

  • Section 1: Contraceptive methods
  • Section 2: Guidelines for contraceptive use
  • Section 3: Client-centered contraceptive counseling skills

Time: 3.0 hours

Continuing Education: 3.0 contact hours

There is no fee for a continuing nursing education (CNE) certificate upon successful completion of this activity.

This nursing continuing professional development activity has been approved for a maximum of 3 contact hours by JSI Research & Training Institute, Inc. Activity # RHNTC5.
