This course provides information about fertility awareness-based methods (FABMs) and how to use them to achieve or prevent pregnancy. Using information in the course, clinical services providers and staff can counsel clients on how FABMs work and how to use an FABM to identify the days during their menstrual cycle when intercourse is more or less likely to result in pregnancy. Providers and staff can counsel clients on considerations related to FABM use taking into account the client’s family planning needs and preferences.

Learning Objectives:

By the end of this activity, participants will be able to:

  • Explain how FABMs use fertility indicators to estimate the fertile window 
  • Identify four indicators clients can use use to track fertility
  • Describe considerations for FABM users

Section 4: FABM Counseling Considerations and Scenarios
