This brief provides an introduction to single-case designs (SCDs), an approach to build evidence of effectiveness of Teen Pregnancy Prevention (TPP) programs, practices, and policies. Using an SCD to build evidence may be useful in situations when traditional impact evaluation approaches like randomized controlled trials or quasi- experimental designs are infeasible, particularly when working with populations that are small or difficult to recruit/retain. The brief describes SCDs and provides examples of how they could be implemented in the TPP field, and includes links to other resources and references for researchers and evaluators interested in learning more about SCD approaches.
