This webinar explored the “retrofit, reform, and reimagine” framework as a foundation for discussing maternal morbidity and mortality in the U.S. The webinar featured Monica McLemore, PhD, MPH, RN, FAAN, Associate Professor in the School of Nursing at the University of California, San Francisco. Dr. McLemore described the historic role of family planning and teen pregnancy prevention services, and suggested reforms to address maternal morbidity and mortality. Dr. McLemore provided examples of retrofitting existing services to address maternal morbidity and mortality and a road map to programmatic structures that reimagine family planning from the lens of reproductive justice.
