Is your agency ready to conduct its periodic cost analysis? This new eLearning course supports family planning staff who are unfamiliar with cost analysis to learn the importance of conducting it, understand the cost analysis components and how they fit together, and how family planning agencies can use cost analysis results to contribute to overall financial sustainability. In addition to the fiscal benefits, a cost analysis can help family planning agencies demonstrate compliance with Title X Program regulations.

The course reviews two methodologies: the Focused Cost Analysis (FCA) and the Abbreviated Cost Analysis. The intended audiences for this course include Title X grantees, subrecipient and service site Office Managers, Program Directors, and/or finance team members.

Learning Objectives:

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Describe why it is important for agencies to conduct a cost analysis
  • Identify two cost analysis methodologies
  • Describe cost analysis components and how they collectively produce the cost analysis results
  • Identify two ways to use cost analysis data results to further grantee, subrecipient, and/or service site financial goals

The course includes four sections: 

  • Section 1: Importance of conducting a cost analysis
  • Section 2: Cost analysis methodologies
  • Section 3: Identifying and understanding process and information needed to conduct a cost analysis 
  • Section 4: Effectively using the cost analysis-resulting data
