A common goal of a teen pregnancy prevention impact evaluation is to show that the intervention being tested has a positive and statistically significant effect on participant behavioral outcomes. This brief provides an overview of how researchers can calculate the minimum detectable impacts (MDIs) for a given evaluation. An accompanying Excel tool allows evaluators to calculate MDIs for their own impact evaluations, and example calculations are included in the brief.
