Endocrine Disrupting Chemicals and Maternal Health Outcomes Webinar

Did you know that exposure to endocrine disrupting chemicals (EDCs) can influence one’s reproductive health? This webinar for sexual and reproductive health providers and staff will provide an overview of EDCs, common sources and routes of exposure to EDCs, and how exposure to EDCs may influence reproductive health (including pregnancy and preterm birth), cardiometabolic risk (e.g., blood pressure, cholesterol levels, blood sugar levels), and related maternal morbidity and mortality.

By understanding the risks associated with EDC exposure, you can be more attuned to discussing EDCs with clients, screening for exposure, and offering strategies to reduce exposure.

Speaker:

  • Tamarra James-Todd, PhD, MPH, Mark and Catherine Winkler Associate Professor of Environmental Reproductive Epidemiology, Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health

Learning Objectives:
By the end of this session, participants will be able to:

  1. Describe how exposure to endocrine disrupting chemicals (EDCs) can negatively affect reproductive health
  2. Explain how unequal environmental exposure to EDCs contributes to racial disparities in negative maternal health outcomes
  3. Describe at least 2 strategies for reducing exposure to EDCs, which sexual and reproductive health providers can discuss with clients
