STD Awareness Week

April 10–16, 2022 marks STD Awareness Week, which aims to spread awareness of STDs/STIs and their health impact, reduce stigma and fear surrounding STIs, and provide educational tools for increasing knowledge about STI prevention and treatment.

The CDC estimates that approximately 1 in 5 people in the U.S. population had an STI on any given day in 2018. In 2019, reported cases of chlamydia, gonorrhea, and syphilis had increased for the sixth consecutive year—reaching a new, all-time high.

The resources below from the RHNTC and the National Clinical Training Center for Family Planning (NCTCFP) support family planning and adolescent health providers in increasing screening for common STDs like chlamydia and gonorrhea, prescribing PrEP for HIV prevention, and increasing vaccination for HPV.
