Stakeholders are those who may be affected by or have an effect on an effort. This web page—part of the Community Tool Box, a free, online resource for those working to build healthier communities—describes how a group can figure out who their stakeholders are, which of them need to be involved at what level, and what issues they may bring with them. Groups can then involve these stakeholders in a participatory process that may yield greater community support and buy-in, more ideas, a better understanding of the community context, and, ultimately, a more effective effort.
