From Chlamydia Screening Best Practices to Successful Implementation: Lessons from the Field Webinar

Chlamydia is the most commonly reported notifiable disease in the United States. If left untreated, chlamydia infection in women can lead to pelvic inflammatory disease, a major cause of infertility, ectopic pregnancy, and chronic pelvic pain.

From June to November 2017, nine Title X grantees participated in the Chlamydia Screening Learning Collaborative to increase chlamydia screening rates in their networks. The grantees’ improvement efforts focused on: including chlamydia screening as part of routine clinical preventive care; normalizing opt-out language to explain chlamydia screening; using the least invasive, high-quality laboratory testing; and utilizing diverse payment options to reduce cost as a barrier.

In this webinar from May 2018, we learned about the chlamydia screening best practices and quality improvement strategies that led to the grantees’ success. Grantees that participated in the collaborative shared specific improvement strategies and results of their efforts. Webinar participants also learned about new chlamydia screening resources available on fpntc.org.
