This meeting package includes resources and guidance in order to facilitate a 45-minute staff meeting for sexual and reproductive health staff on identifying strategies to address unfair or unequal treatment of clients because of their body size or weight, as well as on taking action toward size inclusivity in their organizations. The package includes an “Addressing Weight Stigma and Bias in Sexual and Reproductive Health Care” video, a list of questions that can be used to facilitate a discussion among staff, and a “Size Inclusivity Site Self-Assessment" that can be used to identify opportunities for improvement.

Learning Objectives:

By the end of this meeting, participants will be able to: 

  • Define weight stigma and bias 
  • Explain the impact of weight stigma and bias on health behaviors and health care utilization
  • Identify at least 3 strategies to reduce weight stigma and bias in the sexual and reproductive health care setting
  • Identify 3 agency-specific actions toward size inclusivity

To Prepare for the Meeting:

  • Set aside time and space for a 45-minute team meeting.
  • Identify a meeting facilitator adept at establishing a respectful, confidential, and safe space for sharing perspectives and ideas.
  • Set up a computer for viewing the meeting package and playing the video. Or share during a virtual meeting.
