During this webinar from May 2020, Dr. Michael Policar, MD, MPH, recommends adaptations of Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines for contraception and sexually transmitted diseases to answer frequently asked questions about providing family planning services during this COVID-19 pandemic. Beyond continuing to provide accessible, high-quality, client-centered family planning services, the overriding objective in providing answers to these questions is to promote physical distancing, which will help protect both clinic staff and clients from the potential risk of exposure. Questions such as how to prioritize in-person vs. remote visits; how to ensure access to either DMPA-IM or DMPA-SQ; and how to safely provide LARC methods are addressed, among others. There was time for additional Q&A.
Speaker: Michael S. Policar, MD, MPH, Professor Emeritus of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences, University of California San Francisco (UCSF) School of Medicine
