This course supports clinical services providers and staff to apply communication and counseling skills that provide patient-centered care. The course builds on the Affirm, Share, Ask (ASA) Cycles for Patient-Centered Communication and Counseling Video Series featuring Patty Cason, MS, FNP, and Joely Pritzker, MS, FNP. The RHNTC developed this Affirm-Share-Ask (ASA) Cycles for Patient-Centered Communication and Counseling eLearning in partnership with the developer of the ASA cycle, Patty Cason.

Learning Objectives: 

  • Describe how ASA cycles can be used for patient-centered communication and counseling
  • Explain how ASA cycles help establish trust in patient-centered communication and counseling
  • Implement at least one counseling skill in their client interactions

Time: 1 hour

Continuing Education: 1.0 contact hours

There is no fee for a continuing nursing education (CNE) certificate upon successful completion of this activity. This nursing continuing professional development activity has been approved for a maximum of two contact hours by JSI Research & Training Institute, Inc. Activity # RHNTC48.
