Coding in the Reproductive Health Care Environment: The Coding Process eLearning (Module 2)
This updated eLearning course examines the process for selecting problem-oriented and preventive medicine evaluation and management (E/M) codes based on guidance that went into effect January 1, 2021. The course explains how to select the appropriate code for problem-oriented E/M visits using two methods for selecting E/M codes: medical decision making (MDM) and total time. The course provides a framework for capturing all the elements of a visit with the appropriate codes.
Learning Objectives:
- Demonstrate how to code problem-oriented and preventive medicine E/M visits to ensure appropriate reimbursement for services
- Determine E/M codes using updated time and MDM rules
- Utilize a coding framework to guide the selection of codes that represent all services provided during the visit
